Internships and Practicum Students:
Looking for an internship or practicum opportunity in Winona? Winona Family YMCA internship and practicum students can complete a variety of work, including assisting with program development and capacity building, grant writing, special events, specialty camps, larger health and wellness initiatives, and a variety of projects that service different program areas. The YMCA is looking for applicants with a passion for overall health and wellness, and who are driven and self-motivated.
Volunteer Categories:
Wellness Center Volunteers assist with the day to day functions of the Wellness Center, including but not limited to equipment upkeep, organizing and updating fitness bulletin boards, assisting youth programming staff, and cleaning fitness props. Volunteers must be 14 years of age or older. Volunteer hours vary, with shifts of 1-2 hours per week minimum.
Member Services Volunteers create an inviting and welcoming environment from the moment members enter the YMCA. Volunteers will greet members, help with the verification of member information, and assist with towel service. Volunteers must be 14 years of age or older. Volunteer hours vary during business hours, with shifts of 1-2 hours per week minimum.
Administrative Volunteers are at the heart of the YMCA. As an Administrative Volunteer, you will assist with basic day-to-day responsibilities that help with the overall function of the organization, including but not limited to envelope stuffing, office based projects, and organization. Volunteers may also assist with towel service. Volunteers must be 14 years of age or older. Volunteer hours vary between 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, with shifts of 1-2 hours per week minimum.
Camp Wenonah Volunteers must be passionate about the outdoors and have a love for environmental stewardship! Volunteer responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, a variety of physical labor including environmental restoration projects, lawn mowing, firewood collection, clean up and improvement based projects, and special events. Opportunities vary depending on the season. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. Volunteer hours vary between business hours, with shifts of 1-2 hours per week minimum.
Youth Development Volunteers should possess an interest in working with kids, and a willingness to be silly and have fun! Volunteer responsibilities may include working as counselors in the After School Care or Kids Corner programs, facilitating activities with the children based on personal interests (for example, leading a bi-monthly art class with youth participants), assisting with special events, assisting with coaching or youth sports, or helping keep spaces clean and organized. Opportunities can be catered to individual interests, with lots of different opportunities to work with youth in a variety of program areas. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. Volunteer hours vary between 7 am - 12:00 pm and 2:00 - 6:00 pm, with shifts of 1-2 hours per week minimum.
As a Marketing Volunteer, you will help tell the story of the YMCA. Marketing Volunteers assist with photography and videography of programs and events at the YMCA, and may assist with bigger picture marketing efforts under the direction of the Marketing Director. If you’re the creative type, this opportunity is for you! Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. Volunteer hours vary between 9:00 am - 7:00 pm, with shifts of 1-2 hours per week minimum.
